They have their own way of dressing, their needs and desires are distinct. Their moods swing from grumpy to gloriously happy. They’re demanding. They grow right before your eyes. Who are these unique and wonderful creatures? They’re teenagers, and understandably, you probably have many mixed emotions about this period of your son/daughter’s life.
Think back to your adolescence. Remember the confusion? The lack of self-confidence? The tears and fears? As concerned parents, you worry. Knowing that this is a difficult era to grow up in, you want your son/daughter to make all the right decisions.
Barbizon's Can Help
Since 1939, Barbizon has been helping teenagers mature into adulthood. Through it all, we have maintained a fundamental approach in our coaching. In fact, we’re slightly old-fashioned in our methods. We believe that feeling confident in one’s self means feeling confident when walking into a room full of people; it also means speaking with authority, walking with pride, and dressing with style. We still believe etiquette and good manners are important to self-assurance and community values. But don’t think for a moment that we are not concerned with the individual teenager at Barbizon, because we are. We are deeply committed to the blossoming of each student. That is why there is rarely a class with more than twenty teenagers participating. And, although we are a modeling school, not every boy or girl who comes to Barbizon has a goal of becoming a full or even a part-time model. Even though Barbizon has graduated millions of teenagers, many of whom have pursued careers as models, cover girls, and actors; many others come to Barbizon for their personal improvement and individual development. So while we coach young teenagers in modeling, photo movement, make-up, nail and hair care, and TV commercial work, we also stress speech, etiquette, posture, health, and nutrition.
